LES MINIATURES FONT LEUR CINEMA !

Silence, on tourne. Moteur. "Miniatures de cinéma", première. Un effet de travelling transporte notre regard de l'Aston-Martin DB5, fidèle du héros James Bond, à la Renault 16 de la Société de production Paramount derrière laquelle est installée une caméra de cinéma. Pour les connaisseurs en miniatures à l'échelle du 1/43e il est aisé de repérer le rapport existant entre l'Aston et la Renault. Ces amateurs-là ont gagné une place gratuite au cinéma, car ils ont remarqué que ces deux autos proviennent toutes les deux de chez le fabriquant de jouets Corgi-Toys. Cela peut être banal. Ce qui est moins banal, c'est de savoir que toutes deux ont fait leur... "cinéma" dans les années soixante pour émoustiller les jeux des enfants.Le sujet mérite qu'on s'y attarde, car depuis l'invention du cinéma par les frères Lumière, il y a cent ans et l'invention de l'automobile, à peine un peu plus vieille, il aura fallu attendre plus d'un demi-siècle pour que des fabricants de jouets portent, enfin, un intérêt véritable aux véhicules spécialement adaptés aux prises de vues cinématographiques! Et encore, doit-on noter que ces fabricants ne sont pas nombreux et que vu le retard apporté à traiter le sujet, certains ont préféré passer directement de la caméra de cinéma à la caméra de télévision. Intéressons-nous, ensemble, aux produits proposés, caméras de TV et de cinéma confondues. Après tout, les unes et les autres n'oeuvrent-elles pas dans la même direction qui est celle de l'information, de la distraction et de la culture?Désormais, en effet, apparaît à l'affiche des collections, le thème "cinéma" aussi particulier que sympathique, avec pour sous-thèmes, les véhicules de prises de vues ciné et TV, les véhicules-stars de réalisation ciné et TV.Effet de zooming et gros plan sur les véhicules de prises de vues. Ce sont les Britanniques qui sont les mieux placés sous les sunlight, avec les firmes de jouets Dinky-Toys et Corgi-Toys. Dinky-Toys fit un festival avec ses véhicules de ABC TV: Transmitter Van et TV Mobile Control Room; de BBC TV: TV Roving Eye Vehicle (réf. 968), TV Mobile Control Room (réf. 967) et TV Extending Mast Vehicle (réf. 969); avec encore son van Ford Transit TV Colour (réf. 407), son break Citroën ID de la RTL (réf. 1404) dont on connaît trois versions différentes et son break Fiat 2300 de la Pathé New (réf. 281) sur le toit duquel est perché le cadreur se cramponnant à sa camera 35 mm. Cette camera est équipée des "oreilles à Mickey", nom que l'on donne, dans le métier, aux grands chargeurs de bobines de films.Quant à la firme Corgi-Toys, elle a su parfaitement mettre en scène la Renault type R16 (réf. 13) de la Paramount et dont le modèle était destinée à filmer pour les actualités cinématographiques, les péripéties et les exploits des coureurs cyclistes du Tour de France. Ce choix reste toutefois quelque peu étonnant, car on peut se demander si la Paramount a réellement envoyé une équipe de prises de vues pour ses actualités dans les années 60 au Tour de France cycliste, compte tenu que c'est une épreuve sportive où les Anglais brillaient par leur absence!Corgi-Toys modernisa, un peu plus tard, son idée avec une DS (réf. 510) à plateau portant toujours le logo de la célèbre société de production cinématographique Paramount. Elle la modernisa jusqu'à lui donner des roues en forme de boutons dit "de culottes", qui ne sont pas "la tasse de thé" des collectionneurs, tellement est peu réaliste ce type de roue moderne. Coupez. C'est très mauvais M. Corgi!.Heureusement, toutes les productions de Corgi-Toys ne sont pas des râtés, bien au contraire. Prenons à témoins les nombreuses et diverses autos miniatures issues de films à grands succès tels que la série des James Bond au travers desquels 007 saute d'autos en auto. Ainsi le voit-on passer, entre autres, de la fantastique anglaise Aston-Martin DB5 (réf. 270) - première auto de l'illustre agent du contre-espionnage de Sa Majesté la Reine des Britanniques et également première auto gadgétisée à gogo - à la Japonaise Toyota 2000 GT (réf. 336), en passant par l'Américaine Ford Mustang (réf. 391) et la frêle, jaune et néanmoins française 2 CV Citroën.Corgi-Toys disait, en 1965, au moment de la sortie de son "Aston-Martin-James-Bond", dont le rôle fut tenu initialement par l'acteur Roger Moore, avant de laisser sa place à son compatriote Sean Connery, qu'il avait "fait l'impossible, avec ses détails de fonctionnement secret: toit ouvrant et siège éjectable, parebrise arrière antiballes, sabots de parechocs télescopiques et mitrailleuses escamotables"! A croire que les dessinateurs de Corgi-Toys espionnaient dans les bureaux de l'Intelligence Service!L'acteur Roger Moore fut aussi utiliser pour d'autres productions où il apparaît au volant de nouvelles voitures. C'est le cas quand il assume le rôle de Simon Tmplar, alias le Saint. On le voit, tour à tour, au volant de Volvo P1800, de Jaguar XJ6 et d'Aston-Martin. Toutes ces brillantes mécaniques du Saint seront elles aussi reproduites par Corgi-Toys. Au chapitre de la série sur le cinéma, ces miniatures particulières rejoindront ces autres miniaturestémoins des feuilletons télévisés signés Corgi-Toys que sont les Land Rover de "Daktari" (réf. 7 et 14), la Batmobile de "Batman" (réf. 267), la Chitty Bang Bang (réf. 266) issue du film portant le même nom, la super Black Beauty des exploits de "The Green Hornet" (réf. 268) ou encore des intrépides duettistes de l'organisation U.N.C.L.E. Napoléon Solo et Illya Kuryakin, sans oublier l'inévitable Buick du chauve Kojac (réf. 290).A la course aux Oscars, entre Corgi-Toys et Dinky-Toys, ce dernier réagit aux succès de son éternel concurrent avec la 4L Renault Sinpar et sympa qui partageait la vedette à Tanguy et Laverdure dans "les Chevaliers du ciel" (réf. 1406), célèbre feuilleton télévisé français.Regardant du haut de leur balcon, les protagonistes du premier rang Politoys et Tekno rentreront sagement dans le champ. Le premier avec la rose Jaguar E de la rousse chanteuse italienne Rita Pavonne, accompagnée de la Ford T de Laurel et Hardy. Le second, Tekno, le suivant comme son ombre, avec la célébrissime VW du film "Herbie".Des stars miniatures de feuilletons TV ou de films ciné, il en existe encore bien d'autres, comme existent dans ce monde du spectacle bon nombre d'autres véhicules de prises de vues.A cette programmation ne s'arrête point là la variété d'autos miniatures ayant un rapport direct avec le star system. Il en existe de nombreuses autres aussi diverses par leurs dimensions, leurs marques, leurs pays d'origine ou leur singularité. Prenons, comme exemple, le gigantesque Nissan Skyline TV Car de Diapet ou encore le pick-up et le camion 3 essieux Radio-Télévision de Joustra (tous les 3 en tôle) dont on retrouve les mêmes cadreurs et leur caméra de télévision juchés sur un car de reportage de la NAR Television, engin qui fut conçu et réalisé par Line Mar.De son côté, la marque japonaise Ichiko produisit un break Plymouth de reportage en tôle qui selon les décorations adoptées, était destiné à envahir le marché européen, avec entre autres versions une italienne (RAI) et une hollandaise (NTS). D'ailleurs, les Japonais se rendirent maître de la production de véhicules miniatures en tôle inspirés de ceux destinés aux reportages télévisés. Ichiko, TRS (avec une Porsche 911 World New, commanditée par les Agences de presse DPA de Bonn, Reuter de Londres et AFP de Paris, sur le toit de laquelle est positionnée une probable camera Arriflex germanique et son cameraman), Marusan (avec un minicar de reportage direct de la CBS TV), Diapet et Yonezawa (avec un car de retransmission en direct de la NBC) réalisèrent quelques chefs-d'oeuvre du genre dont l'agréable n'a d'égale que la rareté.Les engins de la NBC (National Broadcasting Company Corporation) furent d'ailleurs ceux le plus souvennt reproduits, avec, entre autres éléments d'origine japonais, une Studebaker type coupé sur laquelle est positionné en équlibre le cadreur et sa grosse caméra et un car spécialement aménagé surmonté de 2 caméras WNBT/WRCA. Sur le côté de ce dernier véhicule est disposé un écran sur lequel apparaissent des images animées. On croirait vraiment de la retransmission TV en direct sur écran géant, tant l'illusion est parfaite.Les miniatures de ciné et TV ont réellement joué un rôle important dans la jeunesse de plusieurs générations d'enfants. Ces jouets étaient sympas au tout début de leur commercialisation, ils le sont plus que jamais maintenant qu'ils sont rentrés dans le cercle des "collectionnables".Silence, on tourne. Moteur. "Les miniatures font leur cinéma". Clap de fin!N° 1: Le cadreur Radio-Télévision de Joustra est un garçon dynamique puisqu'on le trouve aussi bien sur l'hélicoptère de la marque que sur le car de reportage, le pick-up Ford, toujours de cette même marque, voire le car de TV de la NAR, ce dernier jouet ayant été produit non plus par Joustra mais par Line Mar.
N° 2: Corgi-Toys a déposé un plateau à l'arrière de sa Renault R16 pour faciliter le travail de prise de vues du cameraman. La R16 de la Paramount Production ait été créé par Corgi-Toys dans l'intention de filmer les exploits des coureurs cyclistes du Tour de France en miniature.
N° 3: Vous l'avez reconnu... Il s'agit bien de la fameuse Aston-Martin "Gold... finger" qu'utilise l'agent spécial 007. L'auto était bardée de gadgets. La miniature au 1/43e de Corgi-Toys l'est tout autant!
N° 4: James Bond a abandonné son Aston-Martin pour rouler dans une Toyota 2000 GT (réf. 336) tout aussi gadgétisée puisque l'une comme l'autre de ses deux autos proviennent de chez Corgi-Toys, le maître de la réplique dans le genre.
N° 5: Les actualités Pathé revues et corrigées par Dinky-Toys Grande-Bretagne qui a opté pour un break Fiat 2300 (réf. 281).
N° 6: Kojac tire à bout portant. Le bien connu agent chauve, aujourd'hui décédé, se donne en spectacle avec sa Buick. A gauche, un remake de sa plaque de détective qui était livrée aux enfants en même temps que l'auto.
N° 7: Un hyper-car de reportage japonais. Il est très ressemblant à son modèle qui est un Mitsubishi Fuso. Il a été fabriqué au Japon dans les années 70 par la marque de jouets Diapet.
N° 8: La noire Batmobile et son célèbre pilote sont signés Corgi-Toys (réf. 267).
N° 9: C'est vers le break Plymouth que la firme japonaise Ichiko s'est retourné pour orienter sa production de véhicules TV. Elle existe en plusieurs variantes dont une pour la TV italienne (celle représentée sur cette photo) et une pour la TV hollandaise.

MINIATURES PLAYING MOVIE STARS!

Silence, camera on. "Miniatures playing movie stars", first clap. A travelling effect takes our sight on the Aston-Martin DB5, the James Bond hero's car to a Renault 16 of the Paramount Company on which is installed on top of it a movie camera.For the connoisseurs in 1/43rd scale models it is well-off to notice the report existing between the Aston and the Renault. These amateurs there have earned a free seat to the theatre, because they have noticed that these two cars come both from the same manufacturer Corgi-Toys. That can be banal. What is less banal, it is to know than these two have made their... "cinema" in the sixty's to simulate children's games. This subject should be looked more closely, because since the invention of the cinema by the Lumière brothers, there is hundred years and the invention of the automobile, hardly the same age, it will have been necessary to wait more than a half-century in order that a manufacturers of toys, finally, have a real interest to vehicles specially adapted to be filmed! And even then, we have to note that these manufacturers are not numerous and having such a delay brought to process the subject, some have prefered pass directly the camera of cinema to the camera of television. Let's see together which kind of products are they proposing in the same direction: information, entertainment and the education?Indeed, we can see by now, the theme "cinema" with sub-themes, vehicles for movie filming and TV series, their are real vehicles-stars. Close-up on filming-vehicles. The British are the best under the sunlight, with the firms as Dinky-Toys and Corgi-Toys. Dinky-Toys did a festival with its vehicles ABC-TV: Transmitter Van and Mobile TV Control Room; BBC-TV: TV Roving Eye Vehicle (ref. 968), Mobile TV Control Room (ref. 967) and TC Colour (ref. 407), its station wagon Citroën ID typ Radio-TV-Luxembourg (réf. 1404) we know three different versions of this station wagon and another station wagon Fiat 2300 from the Pathé News (ref. 281) on the roof of which is perched the framer (cameraman) attached to its 35mm camera. This camera is equipped with the "Mickey Mouse ears", name given by collectors, in the toy collecting trade, to the great loaders of film bobbins.As for the firm Corgi-Toys, it has known perfectly to put in scene the typical Renault R16 (ref. 13) of the Paramount and whose model was destined to film the movie news, adventures and exploits of the cyclists of the "Tour de France". This choice remains nevertheless a bit strange, because we can wonder if the Paramount has really sent a team in the 60's as the typical "Tour de France"? Unusual, indeed, as no English cyclist where there!Corgi-Toys modernized, a bit later, its idea with a Citroën DS (ref. 510) "platform" always the logo of the famous Paramount Company. It modernized it so much until it gives a funny look to the wheels as a pan buttons form, that are not "the cup of tea" of collectors, so little realistic this type of modern wheels. Cut. It is very bad Mr. Corgi!Happily, all production of Corgi-Toys is not that bad, well on the contrary. Take to witnesses the numerous and various cars stemming film miniatures to great success such that the series of James Bond to the breadth of which 007 jumps from one car to another. We can see him passing from the English fantastic Aston-Martin DB5 (ref. 270) - first model full of spy-tricks car of the illustrious agent of her Majesty the Queen - to the Japanese Toyota 2000 GT (ref. 336), by passing by the American Ford Mustang (ref. 391) and the frail, yellow and nevertheless French 2CV Citroën.Corgi-Toys told, in 1965, to the moment of showing its "Aston-Martin James Bond", whose role was held initially by the actor Roger Moore, before to leave its place to its compatriot Sean Connery, that it had "made the impossible, with its secret functionning details: roof opening and jumping seat, bullet proof back window screen, telescopic bumper clogs and retractable machine-guns"! It is the case when it assumes the role of Simon Timplar, alias "the Saint". We can see him on the wheel of a swedish car Volvo P1800, british Jaguar XJ6 and Aston-Martin. All these brilliant mechanics of the "Saint" will be there also reproduced by Corgi-Toys.Other witnesses of movie and TV series made by Corgi-Toys are: Land Rover for "Daktari" (ref. 7 and 14), the Batmobile of "Batman" (ref. 267), the Chitty Bang Bang (ref. 266) which has the same name as the movie, the super Black Beauty of exploits of "The Green Hornet" (ref. 268) or again of the intrepid spies of the organization U.N.C.L.E. Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin, without forgeting the unavoidable Buick of the bald Kojac (ref. 290).To the Oscar race, between Corgi-Toys and Dinky-Toys, this last reacts to success of its eternal competitor with a Renault 4L Sinpar typ that shared the launch to Tanguy and Laverdure in "Knights of the sky" (ref. 1406), famous French TV serial.Looking the high of their balcony, protagonists of the first rank Politoys (Italia) and Tekno (Denmark) will return wisely in the field. Elsewhere, Japanese became the masters of the production of miniature vehicles in tin plate destined to TV reporting. Ichiko, TRS (with a Porsche 911 World News, financed by news agency DPA from Bonn, Reuter of London and AFP of Paris, on the roof of which is placed a German movie camera Arriflex and its cameraman), Marusan (with a minibus for direct reporting of the CBS TV), Diapet and Yonezawa (with a minibus for direct broadcast by the NBC) realized some master piece.TV reporting coaches of the NBC (National Broadcasting Company Corporation) were the most often reproduced, with, among others elements of Japanese origin, a Studebaker coupe on which is the cameraman WNBT/WRCA. On the side of this last transports there is a direct TV broadcast on giant screen, so the illusion is flawless.TV and movie miniatures have really played an important role in the youth of several generations of children. These toys were nice at the beginning of their production, they still are even more than ever now due to the fact that they are back in the circle of the "collectables". Silence, camera on. Motor. "Miniatures playing movie stars". Clap of end!N° 1: The framer (cameraman) Radio-Television of Joustra is a dynamic boy since we find him also on the helicopter as on the reporting bus, the pick-up Ford, still from the same marker, the TV coach of the NAR, this last toy has been produced not any more by Joustra but by Line Mar.
N° 2: Corgi-Toys has deposited a platform at its Renault R16 to facilitate the work of viewing of the cameraman. The R16 of the Paramount Production has been created by Corgi-Toys in the intention to film exploits of the cyclists of the "Tour de France" in miniature.
N° 3: You have recognized it... It concerns well the famous Aston-Martin "Gold... finger" that uses the special agent 007. The car was full of spytricks. The miniature to 1/43rd Corgi-Toys it is all as much!
N° 4: James Bond has abandoned its Aston-Martin to drive a Toyota 2000 GT (ref. 336) which has also spy-tricks as they both come from Corgi-Toys, the master in this field.
N° 5: News Pathé revised and corrected by Dinky-Toys Great-Britain that has produce a station wagon Fiat 2300 (ref. 281).
N° 6: The well known bald agent Kojac, to-day deceased, do a show with its Buick. To left, a remake of its detective plate that was given to children at the same time than the car.
N° 7: A huge Japanese reporting bus. It is very resemblant to its model that is a Mitsubischi Fuso. It has been manufactured to Japan in 70's by the marker Diapet.
N° 8: The black Batmobile and its famous pilots are signed Corgi-Toys -ref. 267).
N° 9: It is to the station wagon Plymouth that the Japanese firm Ichiko has returned to orient its TV vehicle production. It exists in several variants: one for the Italian TV (that represented on this photograph) and one for the Dutch TV.
N° 10 : Who has never seen the Great Hornet has never known the great emotion of the movie. This Great Hornet was made by Corgi in Great Britain.
N° 11 : Corgi Toys was the great specialist in car miniature with TV or Movie accessories. This Oldsmobile from the TV Serie Man from UNCLE. The badge with the artiste on it...was given when you had bought the car.
